ANOTHER GOOD YEAR
One more summer season is all but behind us and as autumn draws near its time to bring to a close our weekly reports. Before we go, I thought you might like to know a few of the things that the Club will be working on for the remainder of the year. Together with the DNR the RLSFC will continue effort to assess the status of the Rat Root fishery. The Club has approved funding for a private study of the Rat Root waterways to identify issues that could impede the natural fish migration and spawn. The DNR is planning to survey walleye spawning activity in key areas of the Rat Root next spring. The information gathered from both the private study and the spawning survey will be compared with historical data to determine where we are with the fishery. The information will also provide the foundation for a course of action to preserve or improve upon the present conditions. Initial planning has also begun for the ice fishing derby, a new date and format were discussed. Watch the Daily Journal for future updates on this year’s ice fishing derby and a grand prize announcement. The Spring Banquet is also on the drawing board! Finally, we would like to invite you to become a member of the Rainy Lake Sportfishing Club or perhaps you would be interested in becoming a board member?
You may inquire at any of our sponsor locations and please remember to support them throughout the year.
That’s it for this summer from the RLSFC
